Today we experienced weight as a force. We were able to measure weight in Newtons, or in grams and convert those to Newtons. We were also able to see how weight and inertia acted together when trying to move different items that were already at rest. You saw that the more mass there was in an item, the more force (Newtons) it took to move that item.

Today we were working on a lab about density. Density is the mass of an object divided by the volume of the object. One of the reason why density is so important in science is it allows us to talk about how objects will interact with each other. For example, if I pour shampoo and water into a bottle what happens? Well the shampoo and water will separate into layers based on their density! Just like The rubbing alcohol, water, salt water and shampoo we used today, or vinegar and oil salad dressing or Italian dressing!
Below are the density of some objects, can you tell which ones will float or sink in water?
Feather–0.0025 g/cm3
Brick–1.84 g/cm3
Oak Wood–0.6-0.9 g/cm3
Gold–19.30 g/cm3
Steel–7.80 g/cm3

The MyEgrades parent site has been deployed at
For parents to access their student’s grades, they will have to
register at parents.myegrades.com and then link their new account to
their student’s account.

parent will have to know their student’s current username and password.
Parent’s can have as many student accounts linked to theirs as they
would like. Giving them the ability to login once to see all their
students’ grades regardless of which school they attend.
